Today our county naturalist Rene stopped by our classroom. She was here to teach us about the migration patterns of different living things including birds, whales, and Monarch butterflies. The students were excited when they learned they were going to be able to tag Monarch butterflies. Tagging the butterflies was fun for the second grade. Each student got the chance to hold their butterfly and put a sticker on them. We then went outside and released our butterflies so that they could migrate. The tagged Monarchs will travel south to Texas and if a student’s Monarch is found, that student will receive a certificate saying that it was found and how far it traveled. Rene is a wonderful resource for our classrooms and has taught us many things about some of the subjects in nature this year!

Kindergarten is off to a great start with rhymes
The kindergarten class invited the TK class to our classroom to share color rhymes and nursery rhymes along with art projects to go along with each. We also read a self-made booklet about things we are ready to do in kindergarten - count, learn letters, make new friends, paint, etc. after reading the story, Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten. The TK class shared a ladybug book they had made illustrating position words such as over, under, beside, etc.
